TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Although he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Jambi University decades ago, Don Ritto has remained closely connected to his alma mater. He has practiced law in Bandung, West Java, but regularly gathered with his former classmates in Jakarta.
The 55-year-old lawyer is listed as an official of the Greater Jambi University Alumni Association for Greater Jakarta and Banten. Two of his longtime friends—former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah and Nurman Herin—also served on the association's board.
They not only attended the same law school but also belonged to the same close-knit circle of friends. Febrie was the most senior student, having entered the university in 1986, followed by Nurman Herin in 1987 and Don in 1989. "They were already known to be close back when they were still on campus," said Dodi Sularso, Chair of the Greater Jambi University Alumni Association for Greater Jakarta and Banten, on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Don Ritto has long been known by the nickname "Idon," a name that has stayed with him to this day. Amin Qodri, a lecturer at Jambi University's Faculty of Law and Don's classmate, recalled that his friend had always been helpfull. "He's always been generous," Amin said.
