TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - All the bodies of the victims of the Glodok Plaza fire that have been found have not been identified until today, Sunday, January 19, 2025. As is known, the joint team had previously evacuated 8 bodies since Thursday, January 16, 2025, the day after the fire.
The DVI Phase 1 Team of the Metro Jaya Police, dr. Imam, said that the bodies found were in the form of body parts. "We are still waiting for the Antemortem data. Because what was obtained were body parts, so we are still processing everything," he said at the Glodok Plaza complex, West Jakarta.
He added that the process of searching for victims at the scene was also hampered. This is because the condition of the Glodok Plaza building is considered dangerous for the safety of the team.
"So far, the process of searching for victims may have been hampered, because there is a lot of rubble. If we go back in, it will actually endanger the team," he said.
Imam said that the search would continue to be maximized while the building management cleans the building area. "We will maximize it while waiting for assistance from the building management, because to find out the structure of the building."
The Glodok Plaza building caught fire on Wednesday night, January 15, 2025. Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Syarifuddin, said that nine victims were safely evacuated from inside the building.
"We have evacuated all nine people, thank God they are all safe," he said at the scene, on Thursday morning, January 16, 2025.
The nine people, said Syarifuddin, were employees who worked at Glodok Plaza. The rescue of the victims was carried out using a rescue ladder.
He explained that based on initial information, the fire originated from the Glodok Plaza nightclub or discotheque on the 7th floor. The fire continued to spread rapidly to the 8th and 9th floors of Glodok Plaza.
