David Allen, a heavyweight boxer who has been famed for being a little bigger than some of his opponents from a fitness point of view - once branding himself 'a fat guy from Doncaster' - is now an underwear model.

The 33-year-old, who has a professional record of 24 wins and seven losses from 33 fights, beat rival Johnny Fisher last time out after controversially losing to the same opponent five months earlier.

He is now heading into the biggest fight of his career this weekend, when he will take on Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Sheffield Arena.

But he took time out of his busy schedule to strip down to his pants, stepping out of his comfort zone to pose for underwear brand Step One.

Allen was keen to emphasize that he has lost weight since the shoot, but donned a confident figure as he sat in red, white and black underwear.

The heavyweight was seen sitting on a sofa with his legs apart, as well as in other poses such as standing with his arms folded.

Allen said he had been 'more nervous about these photos dropping than I am about possibly getting chinned Saturday'

Allen posted to his 219,000 followers on Instagram: 'Big thank you to @stepone.life for letting a bloke like me get involved in something like this. I can now officially say I’m an underwear model…

'As a bigger man who never thought he would be an underwear model I’ve been more nervous about these photos dropping than I am about possibly getting chinned Saturday.

'We did the shoot a while ago, before I got into decent shape so please keep that in mind I’m far from a professional underwear model, what you’re seeing is the before the hardest camp of my career.

'I’ve never been known for being in great nick but I’ve always given it a good go, and I’m proud of this one. Thanks as always for the support in the ring and now in my pants too x.'

He also shared behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot, branding it a 'mockumentary' including footage of the boxer playing the drums on his stomach and sitting on an air conditioning unit.

He wrote: 'This is a behind the scenes mockumentary on shooting my underwear ad, we had the best day full of laughs and cringing but please know this is all a joke I’m not high maintenance but I did enjoy having people to fan me down.'

Elsewhere on his Instagram profile, the White Rhino regularly shares footage of his fights and snaps with his children from when he is away from the ring.
