Barstool Sports founder and Massachusetts native Dave Portnoy believes that New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye could be the second coming of Tom Brady.
Maye and the Patriots pulled out a massive victory in Orchard Park on 'Sunday Night Football' to end the Buffalo Bills' formerly perfect season on a walk-off field goal.
On his Monday morning FS1 show, 'Wake Up Barstool', Portnoy believes he is witnessing the beginning of the Patriots returning to their successful ways throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
'To see what I saw last night is the rebirth of, honestly, a dynasty,' Portnoy said - to the dismay of some of his co-hosts.
'You need the quarterback. You always need the quarterback in this league. We all know that. If you have the quarterback, you can play with anybody. You need the coach. We have [coach Mike] Vrabel, a Patriot coming home.
'And what I saw last night, the hair was [standing up] on my arms. The plays this kid was making - started a little slow, both teams sloppy - but when plays had to be made... spectacular, Hall-of-Fame... tight plays.'
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy believes the Patriots are about to run back their dynasty
New England got its first win at Orchard Park in four years, beating the Bills late Sunday night
He continued: 'I said before the game, this isn't post-talk, this is pre-talk... This is the first time in a long time where I'm like, "You know what? I think we can go in and not only give this team a game, I think we can beat them."
'Now, reverse it. During the dynasty years, the Bills fans thought... "We're ready to finally compete with the Patriots", and we squashed them like a bug every time.
'This was the game the Bills had to say, No, we're still the Bills. It's still our division. They couldn't do it.
'Our guy, Drake Maye, outplayed their guy, Josh Allen, great player. He outplayed him. We outplayed him. This Patriots team should be four and one if they didn't fumble a game away against Pittsburgh.
'But if you're the Bills, you have to be worried. You've had control of this division and been one of the top teams in the AFC for how long now? You have nothing to show for it, and you've allowed... It's almost like the Terminator... when the Terminator gets killed and he turns into the little ice puddle, and then slowly it rebuilds. Well, we've rebuilt.
'We've rebuilt the beast, the dynasty. It's rebuilt with this quarterback. Stefon Diggs looked like he was 24 years old. He's running around the field, 150 yards receiving. I didn't love the Diggs signing. We haven't had a number one. They couldn't stop the guy. They knew where we were going to the ball. They still couldn't stop him.
'I'm not saying we're winning the Super Bowl this year. I'm not saying that. We could. We could. I'm not saying we do. But oh, my God, the Patriots are back. They are a team now.'
Former Bills wideout Stefon Diggs (L) and second-year quarterback Drake Maye (R) stood out
Rookie kicker Andy Borregales went 3-for-3 on field goals, including the 52-yard game-winner
Maye didn't score a passing touchdown on the night, but still finished with an efficient 22-of-30 passing line for 273 yards.
Despite four sacks, the Patriots still managed to efficiently move down the field thanks to a 'revenge game' from Diggs, the former Buffalo Bills star. He hauled in ten catches for 146 yards.
New England's two touchdowns came from running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who has been under a microscope after multiple costly fumbles this year.
The MVP of the game for the Patriots was rookie kicker Andy Borregales, who was a perfect 3-for-3 on the night.
His laser beam of a 52-yard kick gifted the Patriots their third win of the season and their first win in Orchard Park since 2021.
