TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education will begin implementing electronic certificates (e-Ijazah) for schools this year. This new policy will allow eligible schools to independently print graduation certificates.
"Through this digitization, it is expected that the process of issuing and distributing graduation documents will be faster, more accurate, and reduce the risk of forgery," said Winner Jihad Akbar, Director of Senior High School Affairs, during the Socialization of SMA Certificate for the Academic Year 2024/2025 on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in an official statement.
He explained that this policy is based on the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 58 of 2024 concerning Graduation Certificates for Elementary and Secondary Education. This regulation outlines provisions for issuing certificates that adhere to three core principles: validity, accuracy, and legality.
The implementation of e-Ijazah is expected to improve adherence to these three principles during graduation periods. This initiative aims to address issues such as delayed certificate distribution and prevent the trading of counterfeit certificates.
According to him, e-Ijazah can also enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the certificate distribution process, as schools, that maintain digital student data, will have greater autonomy in issuing certificates.
However, he stressed that only accredited educational units are authorized to print their own certificates. "Educational units that are not accredited do not have that authority," he clarified.
