TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho said that approximately 25 percent of vehicles had left Jakarta on Sunday, March 15, 2026, during the Eid Homecoming period. These vehicles were heading towards Trans-Java, Bandung, and Sumatra.
"We report that the traffic flow is currently quite controllable, thus avoiding congestion," said Agus at the Command Center Post KM 29 Cikampek on Sunday, March 15, 2026, as quoted from a written statement.
Agus evaluated that the policy of restricting vehicles with three or more axles during the Eid homecoming period effectively provides space for private vehicles and passenger transport. According to him, this policy keeps the traffic flow running smoothly. He also asked the officers to sanction vehicles with three or more axles that still dare to pass on tolled roads.
Furthermore, Agus claimed that the fatality rate of traffic accident victims has decreased by 45 percent compared to last year. "Most importantly, the fatality rate of fatalities has decreased by 45 percent," he said.
Agus stated that they have prepared various anticipatory measures through traffic engineering management. The police took these measures based on real-time traffic counting data.
"Thank God, this SKB (Joint Decree) is very strategic so that traffic flow on toll roads and arteries is quite controllable. In the last two days, we have conducted dissemination and even last night we have taken firm action," said Agus.
