TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - InJourney Airports, the state-owned management of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, said it is deploying as many as 7,832 personnel ahead of the Eid al-Fitr travel season. The General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Heru Karyadi, stated that around 2,197 personnel will be on duty in each operational shift.
"This is to ensure the smooth running of airport operations and to maintain service quality for users," said Heru on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
"This is part of our measures to ensure the smooth operation of flights and to provide the best service for airport users during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return periods," he said.
As a busy airport in Indonesia, Heru stated that Soekarno-Hatta Airport has carried out comprehensive preparations. These preparations include operational aspects, infrastructure readiness, passenger service facilities, and personnel readiness to anticipate the potential surge in passenger and air movements during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 period.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also ensured that all facilities are in optimal condition. These facilities include 3 runways, 175 parking stands, and 115 avio-bridges ready to support the smooth movement of aircraft during the Eid al-Fitr travel season.
Passenger service facilities are also strengthened through the provision of baggage and cabin trolleys, as well as the optimization of inter-terminal transportation services such as the Skytrain and shuttle bus to support passenger mobility in the airport area.
Heru further added that to maintain operational reliability, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also conducted electrical testing through the test of the load of generators to ensure that the backup electrical system can function optimally in the event of a disruption to the main power supply.
Heru explained that from the perspective of flight safety and security, Soekarno-Hatta Airport also conducts random vehicle checks in the terminal area to ensure that all operational activities take place safely and in a controlled manner. In addition, ground transportation services are also strengthened through transportation modes such as intermodal shuttle buses, AJAP shuttles, online taxis, and regular taxis, including additional fleets.
As a mitigation measure against potential emergencies or extreme weather conditions, Heru stated that the airport manager has prepared a number of contingency plans. These mitigations include increasing the capacity of drainage systems, installing real-time water level monitoring devices, and normalizing water channels at various points in the airport area.
"We ensure that all airport services run optimally so that the public can travel safely, comfortably, and smoothly," said Heru.
Furthermore, Heru added that coordination and synergy with all airport stakeholders continue to be strengthened to ensure that airport operations continue to run smoothly during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 travel period.
