TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government said the Ministry of Transportation will evaluate taxi operator Green SM following a train collision involving the Argo Bromo long-distance service and a commuter line (KRL) at Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, on Monday night, April 27, 2026.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, through Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan, will carry out an assessment of the Vietnam-based ride-hailing company.
“In this case, the Minister of Transportation, through the Director General of Land Transportation, has stated that the Green SM company will be evaluated,” Teddy said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The move is part of a broader review of railway safety systems aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
Teddy added that the government is committed to comprehensive improvements, including strengthening safety systems at railway level crossings.
As a concrete step, President Prabowo Subianto has approved the construction of a flyover in the Bekasi area to reduce the risk of train accidents, given the high traffic density in the region.
“The President has approved the construction of a flyover in Bekasi to reduce accident risks, considering the high traffic density in the area,” Teddy said.
Meanwhile, Green SM Indonesia, a Vietnam-based electric taxi operator, issued a statement following the accident involving one of its vehicles and a passing train near Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night.
In a written statement posted on its official Instagram account @id.greensm on Tuesday, the company said it had provided relevant information to authorities regarding the incident.
“We have conveyed relevant information to the authorities and fully support the ongoing investigation process,” the company said.
Green SM added that it is committed to maintaining strict safety standards across its operations.
“Safety remains our top priority. We are committed to maintaining high safety standards through operational systems, supervision, and continuous service improvement,” it said.
The company also expressed condolences to the victims and their families.
“We are deeply concerned about this incident and hope all those involved recover soon and are safe,” it added.
The collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL Commuter Line occurred at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) confirmed that 15 people had died in the train collision, while 88 others were injured.
