TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) ensures that all victims of the train crash at Bekasi Timur Station will receive maximum assistance. The company asserts that all medical expenses for the injured victims and funeral expenses for the deceased are fully covered by insurance and PT KAI.

Vice President Corporate Communication of KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the company's primary focus at the moment is on victim assistance and coordination with relevant parties. "We express deep condolences for this incident and apologize to all customers. Our current focus is to ensure that all victims receive the best possible care," Anne said, quoted from a written statement on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

In the incident, all 240 passengers of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train were reported to be safe. Meanwhile, from the Commuter Line (KRL) train passengers, 14 people were confirmed dead and 84 others were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The victims are being treated at several healthcare facilities in the Bekasi area, including RSUD Bekasi, RS (hospital) Bella Bekasi, RS Primaya, RS Mitra Plumbon Cibitung, RS Bakti Kartini, RS Siloam Bekasi Timur, RS Hermina, as well as RS Mitra Keluarga Bekasi Timur (East) and Barat (West).

Anne mentioned that the evacuation process took quite a long time because there were still survivors who required careful attention. A joint team consisting of medical personnel, Basarnas, and KAI officers continues to make every effort to provide maximum assistance. "To help the families of the victims, KAI has also opened an information center at Bekasi Timur Station," she said.

Meanwhile, the station's operations have been temporarily suspended, and KRL trips are only being served up to Bekasi Station. Previously, the train accident occurred on Monday night, April 27, 2026. The incident took place around 20:55 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), when the Argo Bromo Anggrek train from Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi collided with the rear of the Commuter Line train that was stationary at the platform of Bekasi Timur Station, which stopped due to a prior crash with a Green SM taxi. This incident caused a complete halt in train traffic along the Jakarta-Cikarang route.
