TEMPO.CO, JakartaKate Middleton, Princess of Wales announced that she is now in remission from cancer. The news came along with her visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she underwent treatment throughout 2024. Prince William's wife expressed her gratitude for the treatment she received over the past year.

"It is a great relief to be in remission, and I will focus on recovery," she wrote via the official @KensingtonRoyal account at X on Tuesday, January 14. Kate also realized that the process of adjusting to her current condition would indeed take more time.

Kate Middleton Will Support Cancer Research and Patients

In the statement, Kate did not fail to express her gratitude to all those who faithfully accompanied her and Prince William through these difficult times. "Thank you to the Royal Marsden for looking after me so well," she said.

Kate also said she would support cancer research and improve the quality of life for patients and their families through the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. "We may be able to save more lives, and change the experience of cancer for everyone," she wrote.

Kate Middleton's Early Cancer Diagnosis

Kate's battle with cancer began when she was diagnosed in early 2024. In March last year, Kensington Palace announced that Kate had undergone planned abdominal surgery. Although Kate's condition was initially thought to be non-cancerous, post-surgery results showed that she had cancer cells in her body.

In a video statement released in March, Kate announced that she was undergoing cancer treatment, but did not specify the type of cancer she had. "The operation I underwent in January was successful, but the tests showed cancer," she said.

Based on the results, her medical team recommended that she undergo chemotherapy as a preventive measure. With that decision, Kate chose to step back from public activities throughout 2024, and prioritize her health and family.

Improving Since Late Last Year

Through a tweet on X, Kate previously revealed in September 2024 that she had completed chemotherapy treatment. "As the summer draws to a close, I can't express how relieved I am to be finishing chemotherapy treatment," she wrote. She added that the 9-month journey had been very difficult for her family.

"Life, as you know, can change quickly, and we have had to find ways to navigate difficult times and unexpected paths," said the mother of three. In her statement, Kate emphasized that these times reminded her of the importance of appreciating the simple things in life.

As reported by Time Magazine, since the end of last year, Kate has started to attend a number of public events again, including the Remembrance Sunday service and the Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey. Her last public appearance was at the 2024 Christmas service held at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Sandringham, Norfolk, England. On that occasion she was accompanied by Prince William, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. After the service, Kate was even seen having several conversations with cancer survivors.
