TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) responds to the possibility of summoning former Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, as a witness in the investigation of alleged corruption in the Bank Indonesia (BI) social program. Perry recently resigned from his position.
"The summoning of witnesses is certainly based on the needs of the investigators," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. "Not simply because someone retired from their position and then summoned for questioning."
According to Budi, investigators summon someone as a witness to gather information known to that person. This information is needed to assist the investigators in uncovering the case.
He urged the public to follow the progress of the investigation as the legal process is still ongoing. "The KPK will certainly reveal the truth of this case, including the actions of the parties involved," said Budi. He added that it is important for the root of the problem in the case to be fully revealed and serve as the basis for improving governance in the future.
Tempo has sought to confirm the case with Perry Warjiyo via WhatsApp. However, as of the writing of this article, Perry has not responded.
In this case, KPK has named two former members of the House of Representatives (DPR) as suspects in mid-2025. They are Heri Gunawan and Satori, members of the DPR XI Commission for the 2019-2024 period. Investigators suspect that both of them misused funds from the Bank Indonesia social program for personal gain.
KPK suspects that Heri and Satori misused the social assistance funds for personal gain. Investigators also suspect that they manipulated the implementation of the program to circumvent the realization of social activities of Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority.
For their actions, KPK has charged both suspects under Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the old Criminal Code. In addition, they are also charged under the Money Laundering Act in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the old Criminal Code.
