TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Pemalang Regency, Central Java, since Tuesday, July 28, 2026. In this covert operation, KPK investigators apprehended the Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro.
KPK Deputy Chairperson Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the arrest of Anom Widiyantoro in the sting operation. "Yes, (he was arrested)," said Fitroh when confirmed by Tempo on Wednesday morning, July 29, 2026. Fitroh did not elaborate on the specific allegations of corruption that implicated the Regent of Pemalang.
Anom Widiyantoro served as the Regent of Pemalang for the 2025-2030 period. Anom Widiyantoro ran for the Pemalang Regional Head Election in 2024 with support from the Golkar Party and five other political parties.
Prior to his political career, he worked as a professional in several state-owned enterprises (BUMN), including PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, holding the position of general manager. He then held the position of Director of Finance, Risk Management, and Human Resources at PT Hotel Indonesia Properti before resigning to run in the 2024 Pemalang Regional Head Election. Together with his deputy, Nurkholes, Anom won the election with 278,043 votes, or 44.51 percent of the valid votes. He was inaugurated as the Regent of Pemalang on February 20, 2025.
