US Soccer legend Landon Donovan has revealed a new look just days after asking fans for help with his hair.

Donovan, 43, said he had been unsuccessful with previous hair transplant procedures and was considering a hair piece makeover.

And after soliciting fans for their feedback on a potential new style, Donovan showed off his new spiky look on Friday.

In a video posted to X, Donovan walked fans through the process as he recorded the top of his head being shaved bare.

He commented that the bald on top, long-on-the-sides look 'wasn't terrible' before his hair stylist soon returned with a wig to place on his head and cut.

Donovan ended the video by posing for a selfie with the new short 'do as he smiled for the camera.

The former USA captain previously called on fans to give him ideas for a wig style

After years of trying different methods, I’ve finally tried a hair piece. I’ve been encouraged by your messages over the last few days. It’s allowed me to be vulnerable and open up about my experience and process. Thank you for all your messages of support! pic.twitter.com/HEubE5mY8W

'After years of trying different methods, I've finally tried a hair piece. I've been encouraged by your messages over the last few days,' he wrote on X.

'It's allowed me to be vulnerable and open up about my experience and process. Thank you for all your messages of support!'

The former USMNT captain received plenty of positive replies from fans online.

'Good on ya mate, had me own struggles and it really effected me, and effects lots of men in general,' one wrote

'Think it looks great. Women get extensions, fake nails and eyelashes and don't feel embarrassed,' a female fan said. 'You shouldn't be embarrassed about doing something that makes you feel good.'

And a third said: 'Looks outstanding, Landon. Pretty dayum impressive sharing something so intimate with the world. Bravo, and thank you.'

Donovan, the joint-top scorer for the USA men's national team alongside Clint Dempsey, previously walked fans through his 'options' as he pondered his next hair choice.

However, he quickly ruled two of the possibilities out.

'My options are now to shave it bald - don't wanna do that, not an option for me,' he said.

'Leave it as it is - not an option right now.'

He received plenty of attention last year when he was seen sporting a disjointed style on TV

'Or I can try the last thing which is basically a hair system, basically a wig to see if that works. That's what I'm thinking about doing but I need your help.

'If I do it, what type of hairstyle should I get? I'm sure there'll be a lot of funny answers, banter, but real answers too. Thanks.''

Fans unsurprisingly responded with some hysterical suggestions, though the former LA Galaxy star ultimately opted for a short look.

Donovan is best known for his time in MLS, where he won a combined six league titles with the San Jose Earthquakes and Galaxy.

He also played for Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Everton, and became a fan favorite at Goodison Park through two loan spells there.

Donovan finished his illustrious career with 157 appearances for the national team, as he played in three World Cups and produced his famous game winner against Algeria in 2010.

He last played top-flight football with Mexico's Leon in 2018 before enjoying a stint with the San Diego Sockers indoor team.
