Football fans paying close attention to Sunday morning's NFL game between the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns may have noticed a television cable getting in the way of a field goal attempt.
The 51-yard attempt from Vikings kicker Will Reichard looked to easily split the uprights before viciously curving outside the goal posts for the miss.
Some thought the kick may have just been shanked, or it was partially blocked at the line.
Yet, an overhead view shows the television camera's line above Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the ball's flight path and ricocheting it away from three points.
The ball should have been considered dead as soon as it touched the wire, leading to another 51-yard attempt. Instead, the Browns kept a 3-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.
A last-minute Carson Wentz touchdown pass saved the Vikings from having further fury at the NFL, as a 21-17 victory also helped clear the 3.5-point money line on Minnesota to win. Yet, the damage was already done.
Took a look back at the Will Reichard "missed" field goal myself (in HD since it's 2025)... and there's no doubt the British cable screwed him. pic.twitter.com/y0VEFVgSg4

Fans were upset that the try was not attempted again and the ricochet was missed by referees
'With all the money invested and booth reviews, this is not a good look. Especially if it costs them the game. Shocking they missed this tbh,' one NFL fan said.
'How long will the @NFL allow refs to ruin this league? Run this bitch with full droids/digital measurements…how much worse can it get?!' a second person stated.
'Do the refs actually see anything these days? There was many BIG missed calls. Not sure they are employing the brightest bunch here,' a third fan added.
'That’s wild, how do you miss something like that?? That kick could’ve changed the whole game,' a fourth continued.
'If only there was a way to magical look into the past and review what happened on a play. Maybe one day,' a fifth concluded.

The NFL has four more international games this season, all at a different venue.
The London series continues over the next two weeks, continuing at the home of Premier League club Tottenham for Broncos-Jets next week, before shifting to Wembley Stadium for Rams-Jaguars in Week 7.
In November, the NFL heads to Berlin for Falcons-Colts before its first-ever game in Spain, when the Commanders play the Dolphins.
Eagle-eyed fans will be zeroed in on the cameras now that Reichard's kick was unfairly ruled a miss, with more questions looming about how the NFL's officials missed the ricochet.
