TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's State Secretary Minister, Prasetyo Hadi, apologizes for the extreme traffic congestion at the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing, as on-site officers are seeking to untangle the mess.

The minister claims the government is working hard to anticipate and ensure the safety and smooth running of the Eid homecoming travel. The government is also working to ensure smooth traffic despite the surge in movements.
According to the data from Gilimanuk port on March 13, 2026, the number of ferry trips has amounted to 220, with passengers crossing from Bali to Java reaching 37,877 people.
Besides passengers, 6,066 two-wheeled vehicles, 3,573 small vehicles, 2,154 trucks, and 383 buses also crossed over from Bali. In total, from March 11 to 13, a total of 97,572 passengers and 31,045 vehicles passed the Gilimanuk crossing.
Meanwhile, based on the data from the Ketapang port during the same period, the number of ferry trips recorded was 231, with passengers bound for Bali growing 6.2 percent compared to the previous year, at 26,173 people.
Trucks were recorded at 2,604 units, up 10.8 percent, while buses grew 7.4 percent at 635 units. The total number of vehicles crossing from Java to Bali reached 5,365 units, an increase of 2.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
A total of 66,305 people and 15,410 vehicles crossed over to Bali from March 11 to 13, 2026.
