Pertamina to Raise Fuel Stocks by 18% During School Break

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Java and Yogyakarta regional Pertamina Patra Niaga is adding 10 to 18 percent to its fuel stock ahead of the school holiday period.

The company's Area Manager of Communication, M. Taufiq Kurniawan, said this measure is taken to anticipate the two-week school break based on consumption trends in the previous years.

"Pertamina Patra Niaga in Central Java and Yogyakarta anticipates increased consumption rate by adding Pertalite stock at gas stations by around 10 to 18 percent, especially during the school holiday season," said Taufiq when met in Solo, Central Java, on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The subsidiary of the state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina also monitors the distribution pattern daily.

Besides additional fuel stock, Pertamina is also preparing several operational measures at gas stations to ensure smooth services. These include more queueing officers on the ground and bottled drinking water for Pertalite consumers.

"We distribute fuel regardless of time, even until dawn. Stock is also monitored in real time through digital systems, CCTV, and automatic tank gauges, so that it is refilled before running out," he said.

Pertamina also calls on the public to use the MyPertamina application to monitor the nearest gas stations to avoid long queues. Information boards will also be added at several gas stations to facilitate consumers.

According to Taufiq, the surge in Pertalite consumption cannot be attributed conclusively to Pertamax fuel price hikes on June 10. According to him, it takes at least one month to accurately observe the shift in consumption trends.

Meanwhile, fuel consumption during school holidays is estimated to increase by around 1.4 percent in Central Java and up to 7 percent in Yogyakarta as tourism ramps up.

As for LPG supply, Pertamina recorded a relatively small increase during the holiday period, around 1-3 percent in total, with a higher surge in non-subsidized products estimated to reach around 15 percent, especially in the restaurant sector.

Pertamina also denies the circulating rumor of fuel shortage across several regions. Some reports of long queues in Wonosobo and Magelang, he said, have been clarified.

"We urge the public not to panic. Stocks are sufficient, supply runs 24 hours, and no gas station runs out of fuel," he said.

Pertamina also ensures that all gas stations in Central Java and Yogyakarta are monitored digitally and in real time to maintain smooth fuel distribution during the school holidays.
