TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto will attend the 19th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday night, May 14, 2025.
"Prabowo is, God Willing, confirmed to attend on the 14th (of May) at 7:30 p.m.," said Mardani Ali Sera, the chair of the House's Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, as quoted from the DPR YouTube channel.
Prabowo, whose attendance is intended to symbolize Indonesia's readiness to become the bridge in support of world peace, will be accompanied by House Speaker Puan Maharani.
The 19th PIUC Conference will be attended by the delegations from dozens of countries. The main theme of this session is "Good Governance and Strong Institutions."
"We are delighted to host nearly 450 members of parliament from OIC countries, from 38 countries and 10 observer countries," he said, referring to the Organization on Islamic Cooperation.
This theme is raised to encourage member countries of the OIC to enhance good governance rather than blaming each other.
"We don't have good governance, we don't have trusted institutions, so our economic growth is subpar, transparency and accountability are not good, poor people in the country do not receive good services, and our education is not of good quality," he said.
The 19th PUIC Conference is held at the Parliament Building, Senayan Complex, Jakarta, on May 12-15, 2025. The 4-day session is attended by parliamentary delegations from the 38 OIC member countries.
