TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is scheduled to meet with the leadership of Bank Indonesia after Perry Warjiyo resigned from his post as BI Governor on Monday, July 27, 2026. The special meeting was confirmed by the ministry's Secretary General, Robert Leonard Marbun.
The Finance Minister is the Chair of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), which houses Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority, the Ministry of Finance, and the Deposit Insurance Corporation.
"There may be a meeting with BI," Robert said when met at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026.
But Robert stayed mum on what the meeting will entail, as Purbaya has yet to issue a statement regarding the resignation of Bank Indonesia's top official.
According to Robert, the Ministry of Finance only received information about Perry's resignation from the media. "We got the information from the news," he said.
Perry Warjiyo abruptly resigned from his position on Monday morning, July 27, 2026. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto received the resignation letter from the Governor of Bank Indonesia on Sunday.
Prasetyo stated that Perry's resignation was in accordance with the applicable mechanisms and regulations. "Therefore, the President accepted the resignation of Bapak Perry Warjiyo. This is, of course, accompanied by the highest appreciation and gratitude for his dedication during his approximately seven-year leadership of Bank Indonesia," he said in a press conference on Monday morning.
Administratively, the government will process the issuance of the president's decision regarding Perry's respectful dismissal as the Governor of Bank Indonesia. According to the provisions of the Bank Indonesia Law, he said, the position of Bank Indonesia Governor will be temporarily held by the Senior Deputy Governor, Destry Damayanti.
The central bank did not give a detailed reason for the BI Governor's resignation, only citing "personal reasons," as explained by Executive Director of BI's Communications Department Ramdan Denny Prakoso.
