The Boston Red Sox superfan who was brutally mocked by Cam Schlittler after their playoff defeat to the Yankees has declared 'war' on the star New York pitcher.

Schittler couldn't resist poking fun at Lucy Burdge - a gambling influencer and well-known Red Sox supporter - after helping the Yankees dump their fierce rivals out of the postseason on Thursday night.

Ahead of the Game 3 decider in the Bronx, Burdge shared a mirror selfie of herself in a Red Sox jersey and wrote: 'Sox in 3.'

Schlittler then savagely replied after eliminating her beloved from the playoffs: 'Not this year'.

It didn't take long for the MLB star's post to go viral, with Burdge initially responding with a meme of a woman rolling her eyes and waving her hand in frustration.

Now she has broken her silence on the interaction with Schlittler, insisting she will be keeping a close eye on the Yankees' playoff run after already preparing some comeback tweets.

Schlittler teased Burdge after helping New York dump her beloved Boston out the playoffs

'When the Red Sox are eliminated you get to kind of passively watch the rest of the postseason,' she said on the Baseball Isn't Boring podcast. 'And now I am going to be eagle-eyed watching this because do I have some tweets in the drafts ready to go.

'@CamSchlittler, should he do anything good or bad, mostly bad... because now I have a new opp.'

Burdge then jokingly added: 'This is not over and it's only just begun. This is day one of my war with Cam Schlittler. This is war. This guy can go to hell.'

Schlittler was at his best in the Yankees' win over the Red Sox in New York, routinely topping 100 mph and striking out 12 Boston players in a comfortable 4-0 win.

It means they progress to the American League Divisional Series after knocking their bitter foes out of the postseason, where they will lock horns with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Schlittler, who is from Walpole, Massachusetts, saved his best for the postseason and his hometown team before exiting to a standing ovation at Yankee Stadium.

After playing a key part in the win, he admitted his delight at getting the better of his friends in Boston.

'I had an opportunity to pitch to a good lineup and end their season and get bragging rights over everyone I know back home,' Schlittler said.

The 24-year-old also revealed he had received some abuse from Red Sox fans and even his friends in the lead-up to the game, which motivated him further to get the job done.

'There’s a line I think they crossed a little bit,' Schlittler added. 'That’s just how it is. We’re aggressive back home, and we’re going to try and get under people’s skin.

'They just picked the wrong guy to do it to. And the wrong team to do it to, as well.'
