Transjakarta Allows Passengers to Break Fast on the Bus During Ramadan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has issued a new policy to welcome Ramadan 2025. Head of Public Relations and CSR Department of Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, said that passenegrs are allowed to break their fast with water and light snacks on Transjakarta services.

The policy is aimed to facilitate passenegrs during their travels on Transjakarta services during Ramadan. "We urge the passengers to maintain cleanliness and adhere to the regulations set by Transjakarta for mutual comfort," Ayu said in her official statement on Friday, February 28, 2025.

She added that during Ramadan, Transjakarta services will continue to operate as usual with a 24-hour operation on 14 main corridors.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has set the first day of fasting or 1 Ramadan 1446 Hijriah falling on March 1, 2025. This determination is the result of a closed isbat session led by Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, at the Auditorium of Haji Mohammad Rasjidi of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Central Jakarta on Friday evening, February 28, 2025.

Here are some of the rules for breaking the fast on Transjakarta services:

1. Passengers can break their fast with water and light snacks;

2. Eating and drinking on the bus are allowed during breaking the fast, which is a maximum of 10 minutes after the Maghrib Azan;

3. Passengers can also go to the retail/commercial area available at several Transjakarta stops to buy food for breaking the fast;

4. Passengers must ensure to maintain cleanliness throughout the Transjakarta area.
