TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Students from Trisakti University staged a demonstration in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta on Friday, June 19, 2026. During the rally, the students presented a trio of public mandates, which they dubbed "Tritura" (The People's Three Demands).

Trisakti University’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arief Rizquna, explained that the protest was far from a spontaneous action, serving instead as the consolidation and planning over the past few days.

"We have been preparing for about two days, starting from internal consolidation and inventorying issues to strategizing how this collective movement and frustration could result in a movement," Arief stated prior to the rally.

During the protest, the students carried three main demands. First, a national economic and political recovery; second, the elimination of incompetence among state officials; and third, the restoration of civilian supremacy.

Arief argued that the myriad of problems currently plaguing Indonesia cannot be resolved partially. Thus, the demands brought forward were consolidated into three major pillars deemed the most critical and urgent.

The students emphasized that these three demands encompass a series of derivative issues directly impacting daily public welfare. Among these critical concerns are cuts to fuel prices, a reduction in the cost of basic commodities, and guarantees for civil liberties.

In addition to highlighting economic issues, the student leader also took aim at the performance of several public officials, labeling them incompetent in executing vital government initiatives.

On the second demand, the students urged the government to temporarily halt and evaluate the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. They believe that various problems arising in the program's implementation are not only related to political will, but also the capacity of the officials responsible for its execution.

"We see that the failure of this program is also caused by the lack of competence of the state officials implementing it," said a representative of the demonstrators.

The rally at the parliamentary complex is part of a broader wave of movements initiated by the Trisakti University Law Faculty Student Executive Body (BEM FH) to voice various issues they believe are increasingly crushing citizens. The demonstrators vowed to continue monitoring these demands until they receive a concrete response from both the government and lawmakers (the DPR).
