TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Roger Vivier invites its fans to delve deeper into its cultural and creative vision through Maison Vivier. Inaugurated in early October 2025, the new building is located at 98 Rue de l'Universite, Saint-Germain-des-Pres, Paris.
Originally a grand hotel built by royal architects Jacques Gilet de la Fontaine in 1729, this building has witnessed the history from the aristocratic beginnings to the transformation of the 19th-century bourgeoisie. It was sold to the French government in 1815, then modernized by Franois Avignon, who added a chapel in the basement.
Interesting Spots at Maison Vivier
Following a restoration that preserved the architectural identity while adapting it to become offices, document storage, and dining rooms, here are some interesting spots at Maison Vivier, as reported by Roger Vivier.
1. Grand Staircase
A grand staircase welcomes guests as they enter the main living room. In the natural light, layers of glistening gold details provide a prologue to the precious beauty stored in the residence's salons. The staircase reflects the intimacy of art and the splendor brought by Roger Vivier.
2. Le Salon de l'Hritage
An elegant living room invites visitors to explore Maison's heritage through an immersive experience. Curated by Ins de La Fressange, Le Salon de l'Hritage presents a narrative about Roger Vivier's revolutionary contribution to the world of design.
Iconic works from the 1950s through the 1990s are on display alongside celebrity portraits. This includes furniture from the 1960s-70s, Xavier Feal's steel rack, and Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona chair, harmoniously paired with Vincent Darr's 'Labyrinth' carpet and Pierre Frey's curtains.
3. Le Salon Vivier
Stepping into Le Salon Vivier is like entering the world of its founder. There are velvet Regency chairs from the 18th century and Louis XVI benches resting on a floral carpet, in dialogue with captivating contemporary works: Philippe Hiquily's 1975 artistic Coque chair, Agnes Debizet's 2023 Quart de Lune small table resembling the moon, and Marcello Piacentini's slender silhouette modern chair from 1993.
On its walls, Picasso's Faune pochoir from Luc Fournol's collection and Eric Schmidtt's oil paintings are artistically juxtaposed with a Chinese cabinet once owned by Hubert de Givenchy.

4. Le Studio de Gherardo Felloni
This is the office of Creative Director Gherardo Felloni. The color scheme of pink and green, his two favorite colors, adorns the bookshelves, and a floral Art Deco rug from China. The pink serves as a reminder of the first model of Roger Vivier shoes he found in a book, Virgule.
Some personal touches in this room include an elegant 18th-century dog portrait, vintage cups, a Limoges tea set adorned with bee motifs, and hexagonal beehive carvings.
5. La Salle des Archives
For the first time, Maison Vivier is opening the doors to its archive room. This hidden, private space is now open to guests who want to explore the building's history. More than 1,000 works are stored here, alongside collages, sketches, magazines, and photos.
Uniquely, the room is meticulously maintained like a museum, with a controlled temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and 50 percent humidity, creating an ideal condition equivalent to an art gallery, while still preserving the intimacy of a designer's world.
Among its shelves, visitors will find remarkable works. This unique 1962 prototype, embroidered with silver thread and topaz, was specially created for Princess Soraya. It is an authentic document about the shoes Queen Elizabeth II wore on her coronation day in 1953. The oldest work in this archive is Christian Dior's red silk sandals from the spring-summer 1955 collection.
Of course, there's also the Belle Vivier, which was launched in 1965 for Yves Saint Laurent's Mondrian collection and immortalized two years later by Catherine Deneuve in the film Belle de Jour. It remains an icon that continues to inspire designers and women of all ages.
6. Hidden Garden
Behind this residence lies a secret garden, inspired by the tradition of classic French gardens. Nestled amidst lush trees and natural geometric harmony, this hidden space in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Pres is an oasis that celebrates elegance.
