TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Barcelona continued their positive run in the Spanish league by defeating Levante 4-2 at the Ciutat de València on Sunday.
Xavi Espart put the visitors ahead before Lamine Yamal doubled the lead in the first half. Yamal later scored his second goal from the penalty spot.
Levante fought back with goals from Ivan Romero and Roger Brugue, but Barcelona sealed the victory when Karim Adeyemi scored in stoppage time.
The three points keep Barcelona at the top of the La Liga standings with 15 points from five matches.
Meanwhile, Levante sit in 13th place with five points from five games, according to the official La Liga website as cited by Antara.
The match was just five minutes old when Espart gave the visitors a 1-0 lead with a low shot from outside the penalty area. The ball found the back of the Levante net, eluding goalkeeper Ryan.
Levante then increased their intensity in an attempt to close the gap. However, Barcelona managed to double their lead in the 19th minute.
Raphinha beat his marker and entered the penalty area. After outwitting Ryan, the Brazilian winger played a cutback that Yamal finished off to make it 2-0 to Barcelona.
At halftime, Barcelona made a substitution, bringing on Andreas Christensen for Gerard Martin.
Two minutes into the second half, Barcelona were awarded a penalty after Mandi handled the ball inside the box.
Yamal stepped up to take the spot-kick and converted it perfectly to put Barcelona 3-0 ahead.
Barcelona then made three substitutions midway through the second half, bringing on Dani Olmo, Marc Bernal, and Karim Adeyemi to replace Yamal, Pedri, and Anthony Gordon.
Levante did not give up despite trailing by three goals. Their efforts paid off in the 79th minute when Ivan Romero capitalized on a poor backpass by Espart.
He intercepted the ball and fired it into the Barcelona net to make the score 1-3.
The hosts grew in confidence following that goal. In the 88th minute, Roger Brugue once again narrowed the deficit for Levante, making it 2–3.
Brugue went on a solo run down the left flank before taking a shot. Although the Barcelona goalkeeper managed to parry the ball, Brugue was quick to pounce on the rebound and score. However, Barcelona ultimately dashed Levante's hopes of an equalizer.
Adeyemi extinguished Levante's comeback hopes with a solo effort, beating two defenders before finding the back of the net in stoppage time.
