TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Customer data of Bank Central Asia or BCA has become the target of the Bjorka hacker group. The group claimed to have access to 890,000 accounts and 4.9 million databases owned by BCA.
The warning was posted by the account X (Twitter) @bjorkanesiaa, which also mentioned the official BCA account. "@BankBCA a surprise for the banking industry in Indonesia, if they do not immediately respond to this, then BCA will experience massive data breaches," as written in Bjorka's account on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Bjorka also stated the possibility of several major Indonesian banks being targeted by ransomware or system hacking by some hacker groups. Therefore, they urged banks and customers to be cautious. "We at Bjorka will always inform you if your country is being monitored by Ransomware Group, and they prioritize the banking sector."
EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility BCA Hera F. Haryn said the leaked information was inaccurate. "Regarding the information on social media claiming the spread of BCA customer data, we state that the information is not correct," she confirmed on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Hera urged customers to always be careful of individuals impersonating BCA and various forms of fraud aimed at obtaining customer data. "At present, we ensure that customer data remains secure."
Customers are asked to never share private banking data such as BCA ID, passwords, One Time Password (OTP), and Personal Identification Number (PIN) with anyone. To prevent leaks, customers are also expected to change their PIN and passwords regularly.
BCA, she said, always secures data by implementing layered security strategies and standards. "As well as the necessary risk mitigation to maintain the security of customer data and digital transactions."
