TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Park in New York has been recognized as the premier tourist attraction in the United States, according to BookRetreats.com.
The booking platform evaluated 77 popular attractions nationwide, considering factors such as popularity, visitor experience from over 7,500 reviews, and hotel costs.
Located in the heart of Manhattan, Central Park earned the top spot with a score of 4.075 out of 5, as reported by Travel+Leisure.
The 843-acre park stands out for its widespread popularity, boasting a 4.8 rating on Google based on more than 270,000 reviews. Recent visitors have praised its scenic beauty and the abundance of free activities, with 91 percent giving positive feedback.
Central Park’s History
Construction of Central Park began in 1858 to address the recreational needs of New York City's rapidly growing population.
According to the Central Park Conservancy, the park was designed to provide urban residents with a rural escape—a place to enjoy nature and connect with fellow New Yorkers away from city pressures.
For more than 150 years, Central Park has continued to serve this purpose while accommodating modern recreational activities. With 42 million annual visitors, it remains one of the most visited city parks in the country and a major tourist draw in New York City.
Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, Central Park has influenced the development of urban parks nationwide through its innovative combination of landscapes and experiences. The park is widely regarded as a masterpiece of landscape architecture.
