TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi urged all stakeholders at the central and regional levels to prioritize disaster mitigation efforts for the 2026 Eid homecoming season. This measure is deemed essential considering adverse weather conditions in several regions across Indonesia.
"We have prepared all the transportation modes for the 2026 Eid travel, but we demand special attention to weather conditions," he said in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, stressing the unfavorable weather conditions that have swept the country recently, as quoted from Antara.
The Minister of Transportation, accompanied by NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, held a coordination meeting with provincial, district, and city stakeholders on the preparation of Eid al-Fitr 2026 travel period.
The minister emphasized that taking mitigation measures early is crucial to ensuring smooth travel and preventing disruptions during this year's homecoming season.
"We are maintaining continuous coordination with the BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) and keeping a close watch on the situation. Since rainy weather is expected to persist in several regions across Indonesia until April, we must stay ahead of it," he stated.
He asserted that while this year's homecoming faces weather-related challenges, preparations for land, sea, and air transportation are already in place.
"I see that everything is ready. The NTB Provincial Government has prepared well to ensure a sense of security and safety for travelers," the minister added.
Meanwhile, the West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal emphasized his commitment to supporting the implementation of Eid al-Fitr homecoming travel season, stating that air, sea, and land transport in the region are fully prepared.
“Alhamdulillah, we have coordinated with the Minister to review the preparations for Eid homecoming by land, sea, and air. In accordance with the directive, any road repairs must be completed one week before Eid al-Fitr. For that reason, we will accelerate efforts to support the smooth flow of travelers,” he said.
