TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) began their Champions League title defense for the 2026/27 season with a resounding 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava on Matchday 1 of the league phase at the Parc des Princes early Friday morning, Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Ferran Torres starred in PSG's win, scoring a hat-trick, while Ousmane Dembele netted two goals and Fabian Ruiz added another.
The victory propelled PSG to the top of the Champions League standings with three points and a +5 goal difference.
Meanwhile, Slovan Bratislava sits at the bottom of the table with zero points and a -5 goal difference, according to UEFA's official website as cited by Antara.
PSG took control of the match right from the start. The hosts opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Dembele.
The goal originated from a long-range shot by Nuno Mendes that struck the post; Dembele pounced on the rebound to find the back of Dominik Takac's net.
Dembele got his name on the scoresheet again in the 23rd minute. Capitalizing on a counter-attack initiated by Dro Fernandez, the French forward scored with a header into the left corner of the Slovan Bratislava goal.
PSG extended their lead in the 31st minute through Ferran Torres, putting them in a commanding position. Torres finished a cross from Dembele with a close-range tap-in. The 3-0 scoreline held until halftime.
In the second half, it took Torres just two minutes to score his second goal. The Spanish forward received a pass from Maghnes Akliouche at the edge of the penalty area.
Despite being surrounded by four opposing players, Torres managed to fire a shot into the right corner of the net, which Takac again failed to stop, making it 4-0 to PSG.
Torres then completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute, converting a corner kick from Dembele to extend PSG's lead to 5-0.
Slovan Bratislava managed to pull a goal back just a minute later. Suleiman Camara cut inside from the left flank before firing a shot into the right corner of the PSG goal—an effort Matvey Safonov failed to keep out.
PSG maintained their dominance as the match entered its closing stages. Fabian Ruiz then capped off the hosts' goal fest in the 87th minute by capitalizing on a loose ball inside the Bratislava penalty area.
His shot into the left corner left Takac helpless once again. The 6-1 scoreline held until the final whistle.
