TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Germany triumphed as they crushed Curacao with a resounding 7-1 victory in the first match of Group E 2026 World Cup at Houston Stadium, United States, in the early hours of Monday, June 15, 2026.

Germany quickly took the lead just six minutes into the game. Florian Wirtz delivered a perfect cross which was met by Felix Nmecha with a volley from inside the penalty box. The ball slid into the net, giving Germany a 1-0 lead.

Nmecha almost added to the lead in the ninth minute. Receiving a cross at the edge of the penalty box, the German midfielder unleashed a shot that narrowly missed on the left side of the goal.

Despite continuous pressure, Curacao managed to equalize in the 21st minute. Livano Comenencia took a shot from inside the penalty box that deflected off an opponent before deceiving the German goalkeeper. The score changed to 1-1.

Germany regained the lead in the 38th minute. Starting from Nathaniel Brown's corner kick, Nico Schlotterbeck won an aerial duel and headed the ball into the left corner of the goal to change the score to 2-1.

Just before halftime, Germany was awarded a penalty after Riechedly Bazoer brought down an opponent in the forbidden box. Kai Havertz, stepping up as the executor, executed his task perfectly. His penalty kick in the 45+5th minute brought Germany to close the first half with a 3-1 lead.

Entering the second half, Germany did not ease up on the attack. Just one minute after the kick-off, Joshua Kimmich delivered a pass to Jamal Musiala who finished it with a close-range shot to the bottom left corner of the goal. The score became 4-1 in the 47th minute.

Germany had another golden opportunity in the 50th minute. Nmecha unleashed a powerful shot from inside the penalty box, but goalkeeper Eloy Room made a brilliant save.

Curacao momentarily scored through Leandro Bacuna in the 67th minute. However, the goal was disallowed due to offside.

Germany, on the other hand, extended their lead a minute later. Deniz Undav provided a pass to Nathaniel Brown who had a free run without marking in the penalty box. Brown released the first shot that went into the bottom right corner of the goal, bringing Germany to a 5-1 lead. The goal was reviewed through VAR before finally being confirmed by the referee.

The home team's goal feast continued in the 78th minute. This time, Kimmich became the creator with a pass received by Undav. The German forward finished it with a one-touch shot that Room couldn't stop. The score changed to 6-1.

Towards the end of the game, Havertz completed his performance with a second goal. In the 88th minute, he received a pass from Undav and cleverly chipped the ball past the advancing Room. The goal ensured Germany's resounding 7-1 victory.
