TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hamas on Thursday, May 14, called on the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) to hold a meeting to formulate a joint Palestinian national strategy, according to a statement obtained by RIA Novosti, as quoted by ANTARA.
In a statement, the group called on members of the Fatah movement to convene an immediate meeting following the conclusion of their current conference to agree on a national strategy addressing issues concerning the Palestinian people.
Hamas says it is time to address internal differences among Palestinian factions. The Palestinian movement said there was an urgent need for internal national consensus to confront the challenges and dangers facing the Palestinian people.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10, 2025. Hamas spokesperson Ghazi Hamad told RIA Novosti that the Israeli army had violated the ceasefire hundreds of times.
Since the outbreak of war between Hamas and Israel in October 2023, more than 70,000 Palestinians have been reported killed and over 170,000 others injured. According to Israeli estimates, at least 1,200 Israelis have also died.
Various regional and international organizations estimate that reconstruction of the devastated Gaza Strip will require at least a decade and around US$70 billion (around Rp1,230 trillion).
