TEMPO.COJakarta - The hotel occupancy rates in several areas on the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), have soared due to the impact of the MotoGP Indonesia at the Mandalika Circuit from October 3 to 5, 2025.

Head of the NTB Tourism Office, Ahmad Nur Aulia, stated that the surge in hotel occupancy has been felt since the beginning of the race week. The increase in guests occurred evenly in various areas of Lombok, especially in Mataram City, Mandalika Economic Zone, Central Lombok, and Senggigi, West Lombok.

"Based on our team's monitoring, the occupancy rate in Mataram City has reached 90 percent, while in the Mandalika area it has reached a full 100 percent," he said at the Mandalika Circuit on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

He revealed that the issue of a lack of spectators for the 2025 MotoGP Mandalika has been refuted. This is evidenced by the sharp increase in hotel room occupancy. Hotel rooms from Mataram to Mandalika have been fully booked, indicating high enthusiasm from the spectators.

The Senggigi tourist area also experienced a surge with an occupancy rate of over 80 percent. The NTB Tourism Office noted that overall, the average hotel occupancy in Lombok stood at 93 percent, marking one of the highest records during the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit.

Aulia explained that this achievement contradicts previous concerns. Before the event started, hotel business operators were pessimistic due to rumors that ticket sales for this year's MotoGP were not as strong as before.

"Initially, many were worried because news of the tickets not being sold out circulated. But towards the race, the situation quickly turned around. The hotels were full, the streets were crowded, and the atmosphere was extraordinary," said Aulia.

He mentioned that this success is attributed to cross-sector cooperation. The local government and tourism industry vigorously promoted through various digital platforms, including pushing for integrated tourism packages that attracted spectators from outside the region.

"The promotions conducted by all parties have yielded extraordinary results. On the day before MotoGP, hotels in Mataram already surged to a 90 percent occupancy rate," he exclaimed.

For hotel business operators, this surge is a positive sign after facing tourism fluctuations for several years. The impact of this MotoGP even reached supporting sectors such as transportation, culinary, and SMEs, which also enjoyed the influx of tourists.

"International events like this MotoGP not only elevate the NTB's reputation but also bring life to all economic sectors. From major hotels to small traders, everyone reaps the benefits," he said.

Aulia is optimistic that the MotoGP Mandalika momentum will strengthen Lombok's position as a leading national tourist destination. He hopes that this positive impact will not only stop at this year's event but will continue to various future events.

"We want MotoGP to be more than just an annual spectacle, but rather be the driving force for the local economy. Lombok has proven itself capable of accommodating thousands of guests with the best service. This is evidence that NTB's tourism is ready to accelerate even further," he said.
