Immigration Bans Dutch Organizers of Bali Entourage Run

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Immigration has cracked down on two foreign nationals suspected of organizing the Entourage Run event in Canggu, Bali, following allegations that the community discriminated against Indonesian citizens.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated in Jakarta on Friday that his office has imposed administrative sanctions in the form of entry bans against the two foreigners after they departed Indonesia.

"There cannot be a state within a state. This running event constitutes a state within a state," Hendarsam said as reported by Antara.

He explained that the two foreigners placed on the ban list are currently abroad. "The foreign nationals involved are known to be outside Indonesia, and Immigration has issued travel bans against them," he said.

Alongside the sanctions, Hendarsam instructed Bali Immigration officials to audit the event organizers and take firm measures against any foreign nationals found violating immigration laws.

"I have ordered Bali Immigration officials to inspect the event organizers. If any foreign nationals are found in violation, action will be taken immediately," he said.

According to Hendarsam, the event was hosted by Entourage Bali, with two Dutch nationals identified as key organizers: JAS (35), who holds a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) for employment, and HQV (37), an investor ITAS holder.

Both individuals reportedly departed Indonesia on Wednesday evening, July 23, aboard a KLM flight bound for Singapore via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. "We have now placed both of them on the entry ban list," Hendarsam said.

He stressed that the enforcement action was taken because the activity allegedly violated immigration regulations. Under existing regulations, foreign nationals are prohibited from organizing events in Indonesia if such activities fall outside the terms of their stay permits.

The issue came to light after a social media post went viral, alleging that the Entourage Run community in Canggu restricted participation exclusively to foreign nationals.

The post detailed how a 23-year-old Indonesian woman was turned away by the registration platform after selecting Indonesian citizenship.

The controversy also drew the attention of Regional Representative Council (DPD) member for Bali, Ni Luh Putu Ary Pertami Djelantik, who reported the incident to the Bali Immigration Office, the Bali Regional Police, and the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office.
