TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Ambassador to Iran and Turkmenistan, Roy Soemirat, conveyed the situation in Iran after the joint attacks by the US and Israel on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

In a release received by Tempo, Roy said the embassy's current priority lies with maintaining two-way communication with Indonesian citizens across various cities in Iran.

A total of 329 Indonesian citizens have been officially registered at the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, a step deemed crucial to allow the embassy to provide proper assistance and protection for them.

Furthermore, he confirmed that as of Saturday at 2:30 p.m. local time in Iran, all the Indonesian citizens who have been contacted in various cities in Iran reported that they have not experienced or felt any direct threats.

But the Indonesian Embassy still urges Indonesian citizens to take preventive measures to ensure their own and their families' safety.

The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to conduct security assessments in Iran while working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta.

In case of emergency, Indonesian citizens are directed to swiftly contact the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran Hotline at +98 9914668845 / +98 902 466 8889 or the Directorate of Indonesian Citizen Protection Hotline at +62 812-9007-0027.
