TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said Indonesia is set ot receive 221,000 quota for hajj pilgrims next year. The number remains unchanged compared to the hajj quota in 2025.
"Our quota remains the same as this year, around 221,000 pilgrims to depart for Saudi Arabia," said Dahnil at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
The Gerindra Party politician explained that 92 percent of the quota will consist of regular hajj pilgrims while the remaining 8 percent is reserved for special hajj pilgrims. "Meaning, there is around 203,000 quota for regular pilgrims, and approximately 17,000-plus for special hajj pilgrims," he said.
Dahnil has not been able to confirm whether the government will negotiate with Saudi Arabia to request additional hajj quotas.
This year, the hajj quota announcement for the 2026 season was delayed. It was supposed to be announced on July 11, 2025.
The issue of quota reduction due to the several problems faced during 2025 hajj season reportedly caused the delay, something that the ministry denied.
Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, who was the deputy of the Hajj Organizing Agency at that time, said he did not know the cause of the delay. He explained that the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia would visit Indonesia on August 4-6.
"We don't know, perhaps it will be announced during that visit or in what way. But what is clear is that until today, I do not know the reason why it has not been announced," Dahnil said when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
