TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) of Indonesia officially entered its recess period today, giving lawmakers the opportunity to work outside the parliamentary complex and meet directly with their constituents across electoral districts.
DPR Chairperson Puan Maharani announced that the recess will run from October 3 to November 3, 2025. “Welcome to the recess period, go greet the people,” Puan said in her closing remarks for the first session of the 2025–2026 term at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
During the special plenary session, Puan also delivered the DPR’s performance report for the 2024–2025 legislative year. She noted that in collaboration with the government, the DPR successfully passed 16 laws over the period.
The parliament is also deliberating 10 draft bills currently in the first phase of discussion.
As part of its oversight role, Puan explained that the DPR established supervisory teams, monitoring groups, and working committees, while also conducting public hearings and regional visits. Over the 2024–2025 session, the DPR held 282 working meetings, 259 hearings, 196 public hearings, and 560 supervisory visits.
Puan further reported that the DPR continues to collect public input. From October 1, 2024, to August 11, 2025, the institution received 6,297 complaints, consisting of 5,519 letters and 778 submissions through its official website.
