TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has assured the public that both fuel and electricity supplies remain stable ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, urging citizens to stay calm and avoid panic buying.
Deputy Minister Yuliot Tanjung said the country’s national fuel reserves currently stand at 27 to 28 days, exceeding the government’s minimum threshold.
“With the availability of fuel oil, the minimum reserve has been exceeded. With those reserves, the public can safely enjoy the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday,” Yuliot said on the ministry’s official website on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
He added that the reserve levels are sufficient to meet demand during the holiday, ensuring that energy supplies for transportation and electricity remain secure.
Yuliot urged the public not to make excessive fuel purchases, noting that there are no restrictions on fuel sales at either the national or regional level. He also called on citizens to maintain order when queueing at gas stations (SPBU) during periods of higher demand.
The government also confirmed that electricity availability remains stable. Indonesia’s power system has a total installed capacity of around 52 gigawatts, with an estimated peak load of 35 gigawatts during the holiday period.
“This leaves a reserve margin of approximately 48 percent, providing a sufficient buffer to ensure reliable electricity supply during Eid,” Yuliot said.
