TEMPO.COJakarta - Indonesia's State-owned Railway company KAI (Kereta Api Indonesia) Regional Operational 6 (Daop 6) in Yogyakarta has added three additional train services in anticipation of the Islamic New Year holiday period, which falls on 1 Muharram 1448 Hijriah, corresponding to June 16, 2026, to accommodate the expected increase in passengers.

Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that the additional train services were provided to accommodate the transportation needs of the public, which are expected to increase during the long religious holiday period.

"The Islamic New Year holiday period is expected to increase the mobility of the public, whether it's for tourism, visiting relatives, or business. The addition of these services is a commitment from KAI to provide extra capacity so that customers can travel safely, comfortably, and punctually," said Feni, as quoted by Antara on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

The three additional train services being operated are the Batavia Tambahan train service from Solo Balapan to Gambir (round trip), the Sancaka Fakultatif train service from Yogyakarta to Surabaya Gubeng (round trip), and the additional train service from Yogyakarta to Gambir (round trip).

Feni urged the public to plan their trips and book tickets in advance through various official KAI ticket sales channels to secure the desired departure schedules.

She also reminded customers to arrive early at the station before departure and to ensure that their travel data is accurate to avoid discrepancies during the verification process.

"We encourage the public to take advantage of railway services as an efficient and environmentally-friendly mode of transportation. KAI Daop 6 remains committed to providing services that are safe, secure, and comfortable through the readiness of its facilities and infrastructure," she said.

For further information regarding ticket availability and schedules, the public can access the KAI contact center at number 121, via WhatsApp at 0811-2223-3121, or through KAI's official social media channels.
