TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government will channel funds into two regional development banks (BPD), namely Bank Jakarta and Bank Jatim.
Purbaya had previously injected Rp200 trillion into five state-owned banks (Himbara), but he did not confirm how much would be earmarked for the two regional banks.
"I currently have Rp275 trillion of idle cash. So, we are discussing with the banks how much they are able to accept," said Purbaya to journalists at Hotel Shangri-La, Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
According to Purbaya, the funds channelled to Bank Jakarta and Bank Jatim would not be as grandiose as those injected into the state-owned banks. He also mentioned that this initiative is not mandatory, but is awaiting the banks' readiness. The funds, he said, will be transferred as soon as Bank Jakarta and Bank Jatim express readiness.
Purbaya had previously stated that the funds to be placed in Bank Jakarta and Bank Jatim would range from Rp5-10 trillion. The former head of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) board of commissioners said injecting liquidity into regional banks allows for the funds to flow more swiftly into cooperatives and SMEs.
Meanwhile, both banks are chosen upon request, and are considered capable of distributing the funds.
