TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metropolitan Police spoke up about the confusion surrounding the arrest of someone claiming to be Bjorka. This is because many parties doubt that the person arrested by the police is the real Bjorka.
Chief of Sub-Directorate IV of the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Police Grand Commissioner Herman Edco Wijaya Simbolon, considers the claim of the real or fake identity of Bjorka to be unfounded. "The definition of real or fake is rather elusive because Bjorka is an anonymous identity," said Herman on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Herman cited the example of a suspect with the initials WFT who was recently arrested by the police. This individual was known to have used the identity of Bjorka since 2020. These accounts were spread across Instagram, Telegram, and Twitter.
Meanwhile, another individual claiming to be the original Bjorka only emerged around 2022. This individual used the username @Bjorkanism to disseminate a large amount of data from state institutions and officials' personal data.
Herman starts to doubt the authenticity claim of the Bjorka mentioned so frequently by the public. "If the authenticity requirement is who first used the Bjorka identity, then WFT should be the real Bjorka," said Herman.
However, Herman stated that the person who owns the @Bjorkanesiaaa account is not the same person who operated the @Bjorkanism account that went viral. "They are different individuals," said Herman when met by Tempo in his office.
The police arrested WFT, who claimed to be Bjorka, for extortion against a private bank. Deputy Director of the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Police Grand Commissioner Fian Yunus, stated that WFT had been active on social media claiming to be Bjorka since 2020.
Fian explained that WFT was the only person using the Bjorka identity on social media X at that time. "He has had the account since 2020. And in that year, there was no other Twitter account named Bjorka, only his," said Fian in his written statement as quoted by Tempo on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Fian stated that they could not yet confirm whether WFT was the real individual behind the commotion for leaking data of state officials in 2022-2023. "We still need to (examine). We only have one piece of evidence; we need to cross-check with other evidence," said Fian.
Fian revealed that the investigative team is currently comparing WFT's activities with the activities of the individual claiming to be Bjorka on the dark web, who hacked ministry data and disseminated the identities of public officials. "If it matches, then WFT's status can be confirmed as Bjorka," said Fian.
