TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta residents can enjoy a special Rp80 fare for Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT services on the 80th anniversary of the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) on Sunday, October 5, 2025. This special fare for LRT services is only applicable on the integrated LRT Jakarta Phase 1A route, covering Pegangsaan Dua, North Boulevard, South Boulevard, Pulomas, Equestrian, and Velodrome.
This special opportunity is perfect for budget-friendly travel, particularly for visiting the various city parks easily accessible by public transportation. From lush green spaces to aesthetically pleasing open areas in the heart of the city, these pocket-friendly picnic destinations offer a great alternative for a short getaway without traveling far from Jakarta.
Here are some recommended parks for a picnic, all easily reachable by Transjakarta and MRT.
1. Lapangan Banteng
Located only 350 meters from the Istiqlal Mosque, this park is a favorite picnic destination. The wide sidewalks surrounding the green lawn are frequently used for sports and other activities. You won't need to worry about seating, as the grass is neatly trimmed and well-maintained, making it comfortable even for lying down. It's recommended to visit in the afternoon to enjoy a cooler atmosphere.
The nearest Transjakarta access points are Juanda Stop, located 600 meters from the park, and Lapangan Banteng Stop, which is directly in front of the park. Juanda Stop serves corridors 2, 8, and 5C, while Lapangan Banteng Stop serves corridor 6H.
Lapangan Banteng is open 24 hours. Don't miss the fountain shows every weekend, with sessions starting at 18:30, 19:30, and 20:15 Jakarta time.
2. Hutan Kota GBK (GBK City Forest)
This green space is another popular choice for picnickers. Amidst the hustle and bustle of Jakarta, the park offers a refreshing retreat from the city's commotion.
Having a picnic on the expansive green grass, with the backdrop of trees and distant skyscrapers, creates a unique, aesthetic vista perfect for social media. This unusual panorama is a distinct added value for Hutan Kota GBK.
To reach Hutan Kota GBK, visitors can take the Transjakarta, with the nearest stops being Gelora Bung Karno Stop and Polda Metro Jaya 1 Stop. It's also accessible via the MRT at Istora Senayan Station. The park can be reached by walking from any of these three stops.
It is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 06:00 to 18:00 Jakarta time, and is closed every Monday for maintenance. It's best to visit in the morning or late afternoon to enjoy the optimal environment.
3. Taman Bendera Pusaka
Comprising Taman Langsat, Taman Ayodya, and Taman Leuser, this park complex is a top choice for Gen Z picnics. Located in the popular Blok M area, Taman Bendera Pusaka is surrounded by trendy spots and various food stalls, making it a strategic place to rest after exploring Blok M.
There is no need to worry about finding a spot, as this grassland seems endless. As far as the eye can see, only vibrant green is visible. It's recommended to bring a mat as a base for a better picnic experience.
The park can be easily accessed through several stops around Blok M, with the nearest being the Taman Ayodya Bus Stop. It is also accessible via the MRT, with the closest stations being MRT ASEAN and MRT Blok M, both about 500 meters away.
Different from other parks, this one is open 24 hours every day. Visitors can come and go at any time without restriction. The park's sheer size ensures a peaceful atmosphere, regardless of the crowd.
