TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has started to open additional train ticket booking for the 1446 H Eid homecoming today, Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 00:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). With this additional trips, KAI provides a total capacity of up to 4,568,838 seats during the Eid transportation period.
KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba said that people who have not obtained homecoming tickets on their favorite dates can take advantage of these additional trips. "KAI adds 1,080 additional train trips during the 22-day Eid transportation period in 2025, increasing the capacity to 538,280 seats," said Anne in her official statement on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
KAI sets the Eid transportation period from March 21 to April 11, 2025, with a total of 9,572 train trips. This number is up eight percent compared to the Eid period in 2024 which recorded 8,836 trips.
In addition to regular train services, these additional trips include long-distance train services and commercial class local trains. One of them is the Java Priority Train, which offers a luxurious travel experience with the Gambir - Yogyakarta route.
The increase in the number of trips also adds to the seating capacity. This year, KAI provides a total of 4,568,838 seats, a six percent increase from last year's 4,296,530 seats.
Long-distance train ticket booking can be made starting from H-45 before departure, while local train tickets can be booked starting from H-30. Some other train services are only available for booking H-7 before departure.
"KAI understands that Eid is an important moment for people to gather with their families. Therefore, we add travel capacity so that customers have more choices for going home and vacationing," said Anne.
As of Saturday, February 22, 2025, or when tickets are on sale for the April 8, 2025 departure (H+7), the number of tickets sold has reached 976,678. KAI urges the public to plan their trips and book tickets early before they run out.
