TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has extended birthday greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin, referring to him as his “most intimate comrade” and highlighting the close ties between the two nations.

According to North Korea’s state-run Rodong Sinmun, Kim wrote, “My most intimate comrade Vladimir Putin, I extend my warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to you on your meaningful birthday.”

He praised Putin as a wise leader and devoted patriot, noting that under his leadership, Russia has become a globally influential power with strong political stability and national strength.

Kim also described Putin as a key architect of a multipolar world, adding, “Pyongyang and Moscow will always stand together and our friendship will be eternal and indestructible,” as reported by The Korea Herald.

Kim stressed that the alliance between North Korea and Russia would continue to strengthen, contributing to the development of a fair and multipolar international order.

Sources noted that his message underscored the personal rapport between the two leaders, reflecting deepening political and military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.

He also referenced their recent meeting in Beijing during the 80th anniversary of China’s “Victory Day,” reiterating Pyongyang’s support for Russia’s efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security.

”We will continue to fully support the Russian people’s just struggle to defend their national sovereignty, territorial integrity and security interests.”

Kim also stressed that Pyongyang regards this support as a “brotherly duty” and pledged to “remain faithful in upholding the implementation of the bilateral treaty.”

Kim and Putin last met on September 3, 2025, in Beijing, where they reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing ties.

Since signing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in June, North Korea and Russia have expanded cooperation across military and economic sectors, described by analysts as a “blood-sealed alliance.”

Putin, who recently celebrated his 73rd birthday, received greetings from multiple heads of state. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko praised Putin’s political wisdom, dedication to his country, and determination to defend national interests.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also extended his congratulations, though details of their discussion were not disclosed.

Birthday wishes were further sent by Nicaragua’s co-presidents Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, who wished Putin good health and continued success, and by Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who commended Putin’s role in strengthening bilateral relations.
