MBG Corruption Suspect Names 41 People Allegedly Linked to Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Investigators from Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office have questioned former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) chief Sony Sonjaya as a suspect in the alleged corruption case involving the government’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

Sony’s lawyer, Krisna Murti, said his client provided investigators with additional names of individuals allegedly involved in requesting allocations for MBG kitchens, officially known as Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG).

“Previously there were 26 names, and today Mr. Sony mentioned three additional names. In total, there are now 41 names,” Krisna told reporters at the Attorney General’s Office on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

"NSD" Could Be Nanik S. Deyang

A list containing 26 names had previously circulated on social media and was confirmed by Krisna. One of the names mentioned was Nanik S. Deyang, a former BGN deputy chief who has since been appointed as the agency’s head.

Although Krisna did not directly confirm Nanik’s inclusion, he did not deny it when journalists asked whether the initials NSD referred to Nanik S. Deyang.

In an interview with Tempo Magazine published on June 7, 2026, Nanik denied allegations that several foundations managing SPPG units were affiliated with her.

“What is the connection between these foundations and me? Please check with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) whether there were any funds transferred from these foundations to me,” Nanik said.

Another figure mentioned on the 26-name list was Bekasi Police Chief Commissioner Sumarni. She confirmed that she had previously discussed the establishment of an SPPG unit at Buntet Islamic Boarding School in Cirebon with Sony, but denied any involvement in the MBG corruption case.

“I was not involved in corruption at BGN. At the time, I only asked for assistance for Buntet Islamic Boarding School so an SPPG could be established,” Sumarni said.

Sony Seeks Justice Collaborator Status

Sony’s disclosures came as he has applied for status as a justice collaborator, a role given to suspects who cooperate with investigators by providing important information in a criminal case.

However, the Attorney General’s Office is still reviewing Sony’s request.

Prosecutors have named six suspects in the MBG corruption investigation. Besides Sony, they include former BGN chief Dadan Hindayana, former BGN deputy chief Lodewyk Pusung, Sony’s associate Asep Yusuf Somantri, PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal Commissioner Andri Mulyono, and Indonesia Food Security Review Foundation Chairperson Glory Harimas Sihombing.

The allegations remain under investigation, and those named have not been convicted.
