TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The North Jakarta Intercultural School (NJIS), an international education institution in North Jakarta, Indonesia, received a bomb threat from an unidentified source early Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025.

North Jakarta Police immediately conducted a crime scene investigation around 12:15 AM WIB (Western Indonesia TIme).

“A crime scene inspection was carried out following a bomb threat at NJIS,” said North Jakarta's Kelapa Gading Police Chief Commissioner Seto Handoko Putra in a written statement.

Police officers searched both the interior and surrounding areas of the school. “The initial sweep covered the ground floor and the exterior areas around NJIS,” Seto added.

The operation was led by Adjunct Commissioner Kiki Tanlim, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Kelapa Gading Police, and involved Inspector One Boaz Natalies from the North Jakarta Metro Police, along with the school’s security personnel.

After a thorough search, no explosives or suspicious objects were found. “At 12:30 AM WIB, the inspection concluded. No signs of explosives were detected, and the situation was declared safe and under control,” Seto confirmed.

The threat to NJIS came just a day after similar terror hoaxes targeted two international schools in South Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

The South Tangerang Police, assisted by the Jakarta Police's Bomb Disposal Unit, the Directorate of General Crimes, and the Cyber Crime Unit of Jakarta Metro Police, carried out joint investigations at both schools.

“Today, we have conducted security checks and crime scene investigations at two locations,” said South Tangerang Police Chief Commissioner Victor Inkiriwang.

The first school to receive a threat was Jakarta Nanyang School in Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency, Banten. “We received information about a bomb allegedly planted at the Jakarta Nanyang School,” Victor said.

A similar threat was also sent to Mentari Intercultural School in Bintaro, Pondok Aren District, South Tangerang, Banten.

The message, received in the morning, was only discovered later in the afternoon.

“Mentari Intercultural School also received a message about a possible bomb on campus,” Victor added.

Searches at both schools confirmed that no explosives were present. Authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the messages and track down those responsible for the hoaxes.
