TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have arrested the individual behind the social media account @Bjorkanesiaaa, which recently went viral on platform X. The suspect was taken into custody on allegations of illegal access and data manipulation.

Despite the arrest, experts say the investigation into the figure known as Bjorka is far from over.

“The Bjorka case is not fully resolved with this arrest,” said Bambang Saras Yulistiawan, a telematics expert from UPN Veteran Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

According to Bambang, there are likely many other “Bjorkas” still active online. These individuals may operate independently or collaborate without knowing each other.

Bambang stressed that the incident should serve as a wake-up call for Indonesia to strengthen its digital security systems.

“We need to focus on improving cyber defenses to prevent future breaches by other ‘Bjorkas,’” he said.

One of the key steps, Bambang added, is to analyze how the @Bjorkanesiaaa account conducted its data breaches and spread personal information. He noted that the perpetrators may have used several methods, including phishing and malware attacks.

He also underlined the importance of a comprehensive digital forensic investigation to uncover the perpetrators’ methods.

“Research and digital forensics are essential to understand how they operated,” Bambang explained.

Police identified the suspect as WFT, who allegedly owned and operated the @Bjorkanesiaaa account and was involved in an extortion attempt against a private bank.

Deputy Director of Cyber Crime Investigation at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Chief Commissioner Fian Yunus, said WFT had been active on social media using the name Bjorka since 2020.

“He had used that account since 2020, and at the time, there was no other Twitter account under the name Bjorka, only him,” Fian said in a written statement quoted by Tempo on Monday, October 6, 2025.

However, Fian noted that investigators have yet to confirm whether WFT is the same Bjorka responsible for leaking government officials’ data in 2022–2023.

“We still need further investigation. So far, we only have one piece of evidence and must cross-check it with other findings,” he said.

The investigative team is now comparing WFT’s online activity with those of the original Bjorka on the dark web, who was known for hacking government databases and exposing public officials’ identities. “If the patterns match, then WFT’s status as Bjorka can be confirmed,” Fian stated.
