TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to break through the naval blockade of Gaza, stated on Thursday, October 2, 2025, that one of its ships had reached the Palestinian coastal waters.
"The Mikeno ship has successfully entered Palestinian waters," according to a statement by X as cited by Antara.
According to Instagram @humantiproject, on Thursday, no one had heard from the Mikeno crew for several hours, but Mikeno is the closest ship to Gaza and has not been listed as intercepted.
According to the Flotilla, the Israeli military intercepted 21 Global Sumud Flotilla ships, carrying 190 people from the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the U.S., according to the statement.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that the Israeli navy intercepted several Flotilla ships and is transferring their passengers to an Israeli port.
Earlier on Thursday, the Flotilla stated that Israeli forces were holding 223 activists who participated in the Sumud Flotilla ship.
On Thursday, TRT World reported on X that the Global Sumud Fleet confirmed 15 ships had been attacked by Israeli forces since Wednesday night and that eight other ships were likely under attack or being attacked.
The fleet shared the names and nationalities of the 223 activists on the attacked ships on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the official fleet tracker shows that Israeli forces have attacked 20 ships, while 24 others continue their journey to Gaza.
According to Erdem Ozveren, a Turkish activist from the global mission, their ship is less than 30 nautical miles away from Gaza.
The fleet, mostly carrying humanitarian aid and medical supplies, set sail at the end of August.
It is the first time in several years that over 50 ships have sailed together to Gaza, carrying more than 500 civilian supporters from over 45 countries.
Israel has maintained a blockade on Gaza, home to nearly 2.4 million residents, for almost 18 years, and tightened the siege in March by closing border crossings and blocking food and medicine shipments, pushing the enclave into famine.
Since October 2023, Israeli bombings have killed over 66,000 Palestinian residents, most of whom are women and children. The UN and human rights groups have repeatedly warned that the enclave is uninhabitable, with famine and disease spreading rapidly.
