TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Roberth MV Dumatubun, the Corporate Secretary of Indonesia's State-own oil company PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, has spoken out about the price adjustments for non-subsidized fuel types Pertamax and Pertamax Green following the price increases for Pertamax Turbo (RON 98), Dexlite (CN 51), and Pertamina Dex (CN 53) last Saturday.
"It's still under evaluation," said Roberth in Jakarta on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Previously, Pertamina officially announced price increases for several non-subsidized fuel products, namely Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex, after aligning them with regulations and having coordinated, reported, and discussed with relevant stakeholders.
The price increase for non-subsidized fuel is stipulated in Ministerial Decree (Kepmen ESDM) No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022. The price changes include a price increase for Pertamax Turbo from Rp 13,100 per liter to Rp 19,400 per liter, Dexlite from Rp 14,200 per liter to Rp 23,600 per liter, and Pertamina Dex from Rp 14,500 per liter to Rp 23,900 per liter.
Meanwhile, Pertamina is currently maintaining the prices of Pertamax (RON 92) and Pertamax Green at Rp 12,300 and Rp 12,900 per liter, respectively. The subsidized fuel price for Pertalite is also maintained at Rp 10,000 per liter and Biosolar at Rp 6,800 per liter.
Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia previously stated that the price increase for non-subsidized fuels, such as Pertamax Turbo, is considered to follow market mechanisms in accordance with applicable regulations. Government price regulation only applies to subsidized fuel, while fuel for industrial and low-income consumers is adjusted to market prices.
Regarding Pertamina's decision to raise the price of non-subsidized fuel last weekend, Fahmy Radhi, an energy economist at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), assessed this as a reasonable step to correct previous policies amidst the global energy crisis.
"So far, the price of non-subsidized fuel, particularly RON 92 and above, has been determined by market mechanisms in accordance with economic conditions," Fahmy said in a statement received in Surabaya.
Therefore, he believes the price increase should follow global oil price movements. When global oil prices rise, the price of non-subsidized fuel should also increase, although not always proportionally.
Fahmy explained that the previous policy of not raising the price of non-subsidized fuel was an inappropriate step and has now been corrected through a price adjustment in mid-April 2026. He also estimated that the impact of the price increase on the public would be relatively small because consumption of non-subsidized fuel is not as large as subsidized fuel and is not used for the distribution of basic necessities.
