TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo responded to Sukatani's song 'Bayar Bayar Bayar', whose lyrics are considered to be highly critical of the police.

Following the viral spread of the song, the punk band from Purbalingga suddenly pulled their hit song from all music streaming platforms, sparking speculation of external pressure.

Sukatani announced the song's withdrawal via their social media account @sukatani.band on Thursday, February 20, 2025. In their post, two band members, Muhammad Syifa Al Lufti (guitarist) and Novi Citra Indriyati (vocalist) issued an apology to the Police Chief and the police institution.

"In receiving criticism, of course, we must be patient and most importantly, there must be improvement, and if there are things that do not follow what was conveyed, an explanation can be given," General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said as reported by Antara in Jakarta, Friday, February 21, 2025.

He also emphasized that criticism is a catalyst for institutional improvement. "In principle, the police continue to strive for improvement by punishing members who violate the regulations and rewarding good and high-performing members," he added.

He reiterated that the police's commitment to improvement is an ongoing effort to continuously evaluate existing shortcomings.

Regarding Sukatani's apology, Sigit suggested that there was a miscommunication. "There are no problems. Perhaps there was a miss, but it has been clarified," he said.
