TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto awarded special ranks promotions to 11 retired Indonesian military (TNI) members. The honorees were bestowed with the Bintang Yudha Dharma Pratama and Samkaryanugraha on the KRI Radjiman Wedyoningrat-992 on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
One of those awarded a special rank promotion is retired Major General Untung Budiharto. Untung is a former member of Tim Mawar (Rose Team) under the Special Forces Command in 1997-1998. At that time, Prabowo was the Commander of the Special Forces Command or Kopassus.
Untung Budiharto is a Military Academy graduate from the infantry branch in 1988, and he kicked off his military career in the Special Forces Command.
As former President Soeharto's reign came to an end in 1998, the military court noted Untung Budiharto as one of the kidnappers of pro-democracy activists along with Tim Mawar.
With this promotion, Untung Budiharto now holds the rank of Honorary Lieutenant General, a three-star general. Prabowo justified the bestowal of this special rank as recognition of the contributions given by the soldiers to the nation and the state during their military careers.
According to the head of state, these officers have provided valuable contributions, even beyond the call of duty, while in the military. These officers, Prabowo said, continue to prove themselves despite being retired soldiers.
"Always uphold the honor of the nation and the state, prioritize dedication to the nation and the people, never betray the nation and the people," said Prabowo on KRI Radjiman Wedyoningrat-992 last Thursday.
Here are the 11 retired TNI members who were awarded special ranks promotions by Prabowo:
1. Retired TNI Lieutenant General HBL Mantiri with the rank of Honorary TNI General;
2. Retired TNI Lieutenant General Bibit Waluyo with the rank of Honorary TNI General;
3. Retired TNI Vice Admiral Achmad Taufiqoerrochman with the rank of Honorary TNI Admiral;
4. Retired TNI Vice Admiral Didit Herdiawan with the rank of Honorary TNI Admiral;
5. Retired TNI Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto with the rank of Honorary TNI Air Chief Marshal;
6. Retired TNI Major General Lodewyk Pusung with the rank of Honorary TNI Lieutenant General;
7. Retired TNI Major General Untung Budiharto with the rank of Honorary TNI Lieutenant General;
8. Retired TNI Major General Dadang Hendrayudha with the rank of Honorary TNI Lieutenant General;
9. Retired TNI Major General Surawahadi with the rank of Honorary TNI Lieutenant General;
10. Retired TNI Air Vice Marshal Bonar H Hutagaol with the rank of Honorary TNI Air Marshal and;
11. Retired TNI Colonel Restu Widiyantoro with the rank of Honorary TNI Brigadier General.
