TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated five dams on July 10, 2026. Spread across four different provinces, the infrastructure projects are located in Aceh, Central Java, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara.
The Gerindra Party chairperson attended the main ceremony at the Meninting Dam in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. "From West Nusa Tenggara, President Prabowo inaugurated five dams across four provinces to bolster national water, food, and energy security," Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a statement on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Construction on these five dams began well before Prabowo assumed office. Built between 2015 and 2025, the vital infrastructure was finally inaugurated this year.
Each reservoir boasts a distinct water storage capacity. The government claims that several of these facilities will irrigate agricultural lands tended by tens of thousands of farmers. Which reservoirs were included in this latest rollout?
Keureuto Dam
The Keureuto Dam is located in North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province. This infrastructure can hold up to 215.94 million cubic meters of water with an inundation area of 896.39 hectares, making it the largest dam inaugurated by Prabowo this time.
The government claims that the Keureuto Dam can support between 24,500 and 29,400 farmers, covering a total irrigation area of 14,695 hectares. The facility also features an irrigation network stretching up to 75.94 kilometers. It is estimated that this structure can reduce potential flooding by 627 hectares.
Rukoh Dam
The Rukoh Dam stands in Pidie Regency, Aceh Province, boasting a water storage capacity of 128.65 million cubic meters. The inundation zone of this infrastructure spans 700 hectares.
According to the Cabinet Secretariat, the Rukoh Dam can sustain roughly 20,300 to 24,400 local farmers. It provides a total irrigation coverage of 12,194 hectares through an irrigation network extending 7.39 kilometers. The dam is also projected to mitigate flooding across 51 hectares.
Sidan Dam
The Sidan Dam was constructed in Gianyar Regency, Bali Province, with a water storage capacity of up to 5.76 million cubic meters. Its reservoir surface area covers 37.15 hectares.
The Sidan Dam is projected to support around 16,000 to 20,000 farmers, offering a total irrigation coverage of 9,598 hectares across a 123.19-kilometer network. Additionally, the dam is claimed to be capable of reducing floods over an area of 108 hectares.
Jlantah Dam
The Jlantah Dam is located in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province. This reservoir can hold 10.97 million cubic meters of water. It features an inundation area of 50 hectares.
The government reports that the Jlantah Dam can support around 3,500 to 4,000 farmers, covering a total irrigation area of 1,494 hectares with an irrigation network length of 47.74 kilometers. The dam is also said to be capable of reducing floods across an area of 87 hectares.
Meninting Dam
The Meninting Dam was directly inaugurated by Prabowo. This structure stands in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. It has a water storage capacity of 9.91 million cubic meters and an inundation area of 46.16 hectares.
The Meninting Dam is expected to support more than 3,000 farmers. It provides a total irrigation coverage of 1,559 hectares alongside an irrigation network length of 25.72 kilometers. The facility is also said to be able to mitigate flooding across an area of 59 hectares.
