TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) celebrated its 80th anniversary at the National Monument (Monas) Square in Central Jakarta on Sunday, October 5, 2025. President Prabowo Subianto, acting as the inspector of the ceremony, was accompanied by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Vice TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, and all branch chiefs of staff.
As observed by Tempo, the entourage departed from the Merdeka Palace at 07:55 AM and arrived at Monas at 08:05 AM, where they were welcomed by a combined force including the Special Forces Command (Kopassus), the Rapid Response Command (Kopasgat), and the Marine Corps. Upon arrival, Prabowo proceeded to the honorary podium.
On the stage, Prabowo was greeted by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and other high-ranking officials. As the inspector of the ceremony, the President led the official procession, which included troop inspection, paying homage, a moment of silence, an address, and a command report. This segment formed the core of this year's TNI military commemoration.
"Thank you for your dedication, thank you, brothers and sisters," Prabowo said while inspecting the troops at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Additionally, the 6th President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), was also seen in attendance, along with a series of former Vice Presidents including Tri Sutrisno, Jusuf Kalla, Budiono, Maaruf Amin, People's Consultative Assembly Chair Ahmad Muzani, and People's Representative Council Speaker Puan Maharani.
Following the official procession, the lineup continued with demonstrations of the soldiers' capabilities and military equipment. Aerial demonstrations, armored vehicle maneuvers, military combat, kamikaze drones, building assaults, and Victory Jump parachuting colored the sky and the Monas square. The three forces' troop parade and the ground and air military equipment parade concluded the military session.
In the afternoon, the public was treated to a popular entertainment stage featuring performances by several national musicians such as NDX AKA, Dewi Perssik, and Wali. The TNI also prepared various activities for the attending public. The committee provided free meals, basic food packages, and door prizes, ranging from motorcycles, refrigerators, to televisions.
This year's 80th anniversary celebration of the TNI has become the largest in recent years. The TNI deployed approximately 133,000 personnel and 1,047 pieces of military equipment to liven up the ceremony and parade.
